In this post, we are happy to share our experiment for Syngonium Albo with Air Layering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We adopted Syngonium Albo with long vine on the other day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His vine is awesome and beautiful, but we wanted to propagate him because leaves are getting smaller and…simply because we want more pots…!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the Syngonium already had few of aerial roots from each nodes, we thought about cutting them and put them in water or moss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we were not sure if each of them will survive with few aerial roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, we decided to try air layering which is safer side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pros of air layering<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air laying allows us to develop roots without cutting, which means plants still can get nutrition from mother plant while they grow enough roots to be cut off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usually aerial roots is not good enough to give enough nutrition to plants since they are different from roots in the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we can develop enough roots from aerial roots by doing air laying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, it’s easy to check how much they develop the roots through plastic wrap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can observe and wait until right time come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to air layer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air laying is actually very easy way to grow healthy roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Sphagnum Moss<\/li>
  • Plastic wrap<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Wet the sphagnum moss and wring it out.<\/li>
    2. Place it around the node and wrap with plastic wrap.<\/li>
    3. Make sure the moss covers aerial roots and keep it moist. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Result<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Here is how they developed roots in 5 days!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We are really surprised how they grow roots this quick! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We did not expected this happened in 5 days. We assumed it will take about at least 10days to have such a thick and long roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      As you can see, now we have low risk to kill the plants after cutting as we have enough roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We will cut and separate them into some pots, and hope each pots will have new baby leaf soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
