3 top common questions about Basil plant

Hi! We are @shinryoku_plant_interior based in Singapore.

One of our most succeeded experience is growing basil plants.

We are glad that many of our buyers are pleased with our basil plants.

And we often received same questions from them.

So, we would like to share answers for the most common 3 questions.

3 common questions

Here are the common question that we often received.

  1. Do they need sun light?
  2. How often do you give them water?
  3. Do you fertilize them?

Let us answer one by one:)

Do they need sun light?

Our answer is YES,YES,YES!!!

Our basil plants looove direct sun light.

But some basil plants from nursery are not strong enough to be under direct sun since they grow up with LED light- which is gentle and kind.

You will find or you already got a basil plant with pretty round leaves.

The chance that they grow up with LED light is high.

If you fail to take care of basil even you gave enough sun light, one of possible reason is this.

Basil loves “light”. But they sometime can’t adopt different types of light.

Our basil grow up with direct sunny sunny sun.

Our basil will love your place if you have outdoor balcony.

How often do you give them water?

Our basil plants looove drinking water.

We give them water 2 times a day when it’s sunny since we place our basil plants on our roof top balcony.

But, you may not need to give much water to them if you place your basil plant indoor.

It’s obvious when they are thirsty. They head down and look unhappy.

But it could be also another sign that they are root rotted.

We strongly recommend to check the soil if they look unhappy.

They need water if the soil is dry, but they need drainage if the soil is still wet.

Make sure that the pot has drainage hole and better to have well drained soil.- We actually use soil mixed with perlite and this is another reason why we give a lot of water to our basil plants.

Do you fertilize them?

Our answer is YES!

Fertilizer is one of necessary things to grow healthy basil plants.

We use organic fertilizer once a week or when they look old.

You can grow basil plant without fertilizer. But you will see how much they look different after regular fertilizing.

They are very strong and responsive.

Once you know how to take care of them, you will get unlimited harvest from one pot and never ever pay to buy basil.

Happy gardening!
